The static penetrometer test essentially consists of measuring the resistance to penetration of a tip with standardized dimensions and characteristics, driven into the ground at a constant speed (2 cm/sec).
The extremely detailed results allow for investigating non-coarse soils (clays, sands, silts...) with exceptional precision.
